Prepare a recoverable backup

A copy is useful only if you can restore it.

Steps

1. Inventory files, databases and configuration. Choose a frequency based on acceptable data loss for your business.
2. Keep a copy independent of the server with protected access. A snapshot on the same infrastructure is not a substitute on its own.
3. Test recovery in a separate environment. Document the process and verify data; included CloudNRJ backups remain unconfirmed.
